Under
16 Regional League. – Sunday 1st March v. Hull Chevrons
Congratulations
to the whole Under 16 squad who were involved in the match on Sunday
against Hull Chevrons. What a game.!!!
Sheffield
Concord has a long history of tough and closely fought matches against
Hull Chevrons and this game proved to be no exception. Concord hit the
ground running – literally- and proved that if you attack from that
first whistle, you can really upset the opposition. This is exactly what
happened, with some outstanding play from everyone on court, sheer
determination and positive attacking play in the first half, we were just
too strong for them. As expected, a team as good as Chevrons came back
fighting in the third quarter, but the whole Concord team rose to
the challenge and held them off in the final quarter to win by one
goal:, the final score 28 -27 to Concord.
It
would be unfair to single out anyone player, as there was some excellent
shooting and tactical play from Meg and Jordan, good solid centre court
play from Anna and Jenny, with some fantastic interceptions from Abbie and
outstanding circle defence from Kate and Becky. Izzie Dickens came on in
the last quarter, a very difficult thing to do, but maintained the high
standard set by the rest of the team. We were still lucky to have Olivia
on the bench, who didn’t get on this time, but her presence on the
bench ensured that had we needed her, the strength of the team would not
have been compromised. .Still a year young, your time will come Olivia.

Report
Sheffield Concord Under 16 Regional League
Date:
Sunday Jan 25th
Venue:
York University
Opposition:
Spectrum
Well
done to the Under 16 squad who travelled to York last weekend to play in
the Regional League against Spectrum.. We had a pretty slow start to the
game, which we will have to put down to the travelling and the very cold
“indoor” venue and were down 6 – 9 at the end of the first quarter.
However, the team certainly warmed up in the second quarter, playing much
more positively and confidently, coming off at half time 10 goals ahead of
their opposition. Several changes were made at half time Jordan Keogh
coming on at GA and Kate Powell as GD and this the team continued to build
on their lead , eventually winning by a very creditable 48 goals
-28. Some excellent feeding into the circle by Izzie Dickens and Lucy
Arundale and at times brilliant interceptions from Meg Thompson. In
fact all girls played really well and continued to work right through to
the end whistle and it was good to be able to play all of the squad.
This
puts the team in joint second place in the league.
